Black Sheep Collective

Black sheep are inherent rebels, born to stand out. It is a likening for someone who does not fit in. We can be “othered” for a variety of reasons-for being the healthy one in a dysfunctional system, for being the dysfunctional one in a healthy system, or for simply being different than expected norms. Regardless of how it happens, being the black sheep can come with feelings of shame, self-loathing, fear, loneliness, doubt, guilt, and other forms of emotional distress and trauma. Claiming the black sheep identity builds resilience, strength, belonging, and hope. The Black Sheep Collective is a place to come for growth, healing, and community. Through relational therapy, coaching, community healing opportunities, and education, we hope to provide a safe, healing haven and supportive, foundational launchpad for the change you wish to embody.

“I don’t want to GET through this.

I want to love through this.

I want to grieve through this.

I want to laugh through this.

I want to scream through this.

I want to learn through this.

I want to open through this.

I want to grow through this.”

Hi fellow black sheep!

I’m Mar (they/them) and I’m so glad you made your way here. Welcome!

I am a therapist, coach, facilitator, and educator with a passion for liberation and building community. I live on Dxʷdəwʔabš (Duwamish land) land (colonized as Seattle) and have called the PNW home for 7 years. I am originally from the midwest and moved here from a rural community farm in WI for my first graduate program in education. I love the deep green here, serene old growth forests, icy rivers, and snow-capped peaks. I have 2 giant, beautiful, sweet dogs you may catch in the background from time to time. I love to garden, craft, play board games, and be outside as much as possible in my spare time.

I came by this work through pursuing my own healing journey and definitely identify with the archetype of a “wounded healer.” I have personally experienced many of the topics and issues I specialize in, giving me greater empathy and compassion for what you have been through and are currently enduring. My hope is that we can co-create a safe, trusting, and shame-and-judgement-free space that you feel you belong within, to facilitate your healing and growth.

I am so looking forward to working together!

Warmly,

Mar
